A man died after jumping into the middle of highway traffic in New Jersey this weekend, police said, causing a multi-vehicle crash.
The man, who was not identified, jumped into the middle of the eastbound I-78 express lanes at 7:47 p.m. on Saturday, according to the State Police. He jumped at milepost 55.6.
He was pronounced dead at 10:45 p.m. at University Hospital, police said. The incident caused a multi-vehicle crash but no one was reportedly seriously injured.

The I-78 incident happened at the Osborne Terrace overpass in Newark's South Ward, where the man climbed the fence and jumped about 20 feet, police said.
