Authorities are investigating the death of a Newark man found in a home on Elm Street on Thursday evening.

Authorities are investigating the death of a Newark man found on Elm Street on Thursday evening.
According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, officers found Charles Jeffrey, 64, of Newark, dead inside a home on the 300 block of Elm Street.
Emergency responders pronounced Jeffrey dead at 7:46 p.m., authorities stated.

“The cause of death is pending autopsy but there appears to be some trauma to the body,” prosecutors stated in a release on Friday.
A law enforcement source familiar with the incident told Patch that a hammer may have been used as a weapon in the incident.
