Man Rescued After Tumble Into Passaic River, Authorities Say

Emergency responders rescued a man who fell into the Passaic River in Newark, public safety officials said.

NEWARK, NJ — Emergency responders rescued a man who fell into the Passaic River last weekend in Newark, authorities announced Monday.

Firefighters and police responded to the area of Jersey Street and Raymond Boulevard at 10:22 p.m. on Saturday after getting a report about someone falling in the water, according to the Newark Department of Public Safety.

First responders managed to safely rescue a 23-year-old man. He was transported to University Hospital for treatment and is reportedly in stable condition, authorities said.

This incident remains under investigation, but is not currently considered suspicious, authorities said.
