Man Stashes Knife In Underwear, Tries To Sneak Past Newark Airport Checkpoint: Authorities

An Arkansas man allegedly tried to sneak a folding knife past security officers after telling them he was going to check the weapon.

Port Authority police arrested an Arkansas man who allegedly attempted to sneak a folding knife onto a flight at Newark Liberty International Airport on Monday.

According to authorities, the incident took place around 1 p.m., when Sean M. Curry, 29, of Maumelle, Arkansas, was stopped at the Terminal B screening point with a small folding knife in his possession.

Authorities stated that Curry told screeners that he was going to go back to the airline and place the knife in a piece of checked baggage.

When Curry returned to the checkpoint, he reportedly set off a body scan alarm, prompting a pat-down from a screening officer.

During the pat-down, the officer felt an object allegedly concealed on Curry and questioned him what it was.

Curry then told the officer that he had attempted to conceal the folding knife in his underwear in an attempt to bypass airport security, authorities stated.

Police arrested Curry, confiscated the knife and charged him with unlawful possession of a weapon.

He is scheduled for a Dec. 1 court appearance.
