Missing Newark Man, 73, May Be Headed To Trenton Or PA: Police

An elderly New Jersey man was last seen at a residential facility in Essex County. He packed his belongings and left in a car, police said.

NEWARK, NJ — Police are asking for the public’s help finding a missing 73-year-old man who was last seen at a residential facility in Newark. He may be headed to Trenton or Pennsylvania, authorities said Thursday.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, Eugene Williams of Newark was reported missing on Wednesday.

Williams was last seen on Tuesday at a residential facility on the 100-block of Ballantine Parkway. He removed his belongings from his room – carrying them in two large bags – before entering his two-door, dark-blue Saturn, police said.

Authorities released the following information about his disappearance:

“Mr. Williams, who is diagnosed with schizophrenia and depression disorder, attends an adult daycare facility on weekdays on the 100-block of Mt. Pleasant Avenue, but has not arrived there since February 13, 2024. He is described as 5 feet 7 inches and 140 pounds with gray hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a black jacket, a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. He may be traveling to Trenton or Pennsylvania.”
