NEWARK, NJ — A man hopped aboard a motorcycle in Newark and sped away as it was being towed earlier this month, authorities announced Friday.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the incident happened on May 7. Police released the following statement, asking for the public’s help identifying the suspect:

“The vehicle, a gray Honda CB 1-000R motorcycle, was parked on the 60-block of Elm Street without license plates and its vehicle identification number did not register an owner. Officers at the location called for a tow truck, which arrived at approximately 6:46 p.m. When they moved their patrol car to allow the tow truck access onto the street, the suspect jumped on the motorcycle and sped off in the opposite direction.
