Nancy Pelosi: ‘Re-Elect My Friend, Cory Booker, Kick Trump Out’

NEWARK, NJ — U.S. Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey got a helping hand from another high-profile Democratic Party leader on Tuesday: Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

Pelosi, who represents California's 12th congressional district, lent her name and support to a fundraising email from Booker’s camp on Feb. 18.

Booker, the former mayor of Newark who ended his presidential campaign last month, is running for re-election for his senate seat in New Jersey.

Using the email subject line, “please read, (don’t delete),” Pelosi urged Booker supporters to donate to a fundraising campaign that the two candidates will split.

Pelosi wrote:

“I’ve watched Trump and his Republicans defile our democracy. I’ve watched them cover up unimaginable abuses of power. I’ve watched their donors unload millions to buy this election and help Trump do it all over again. But now, I want to watch Trump's big moment completely backfire. Here’s my plan: If 10,000 Democrats rush a donation before midnight, we’ll eclipse Trump’s big plans -- with a historic Democratic fundraising surge to defeat him. I’m counting on your immediate donation to re-elect my friend Cory Booker and kick Trump out of office. This is so critical, I will personally match your generous gift.”
