Newark Airport: Man Arrested After Loaded Gun Found In Luggage
Authorities found a .32-caliber handgun in Jason Megariotits' backpack Tuesday morning at Newark Liberty International Airport, police said.

A Passaic County man was arrested on weapons charges after authorities found a loaded .32-caliber handgun in his luggage at Newark Liberty International Airport Tuesday morning, Port Authority Police said.
Airport screeners saw the handgun in Jason Megariotis' backpack as it passed through an x-ray machine in Terminal C at 7:15 a.m, said Joe Pentangelo, Port Authority Police spokesman.

The Antauga semi-automatic handgun was fully-loaded with six hollow-point bullets, Pentangelo said.
Megariotis, 35, of Paterson, had tickets to fly to Aruba, Pentangelo said.

Megariotis was charged with possession of a weapon and possession of hollow-point bullets. He was released on $30,000 bail with a 10 percent cash option, Pentangelo said. He is due to appear in Newark Municipal Court May 10.
