Newark Airport May See Disruption During Nor’Easter: Officials
Once on the ground in Newark, the local traffic situation may also be gloomy for weekend commuters, authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — In the face of an anticipated "major nor'easter" that may bring high winds, rain and snow to New Jersey starting Thursday night, commuters planning to travel into or out of Newark Liberty International Airport should check their airlines for current flight info, officials said.
On Thursday, Port Authority and Newark Airport officials advised commuters to monitor their flight status as in anticipation of a storm forecasted to last through Saturday, March 3.

Disruption to flight activity is expected. Some airlines are waiving ticket change fees, officials said.

Once on the ground in Newark, the local traffic situation is also gloomy for the weekend. According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, many local streets may become flooded and should be avoided.
“Because motorists can become stranded by driving through flooded streets and high water, drivers are asked to avoid these locations and to use alternative routes,” the NDPS stated Thursday.

The following locations should be avoided due to flooding conditions or the potential for flooding, Newark authorities said:
• Clay Street and McCarter Highway
• South Street and Van Buren Street
• Jefferson and Chestnut Streets
• State Street near Broad Street
• Jabez and Backus Streets
• 357 Wilson Avenue
• Manufacturers Place and Hyatt Street
• Magazine Street and Avenue L
• Avenue L and Wilson Avenue
• Ferry and Foundry Streets
• Norfolk Street
• Orange Street
• Nesbitt Street
• McClellan and Frelinghuysen Avenue, and
• Frelinghuysen Avenue and the Route 21 underpass
