Newark Is Among Best US Cities For Halloween, Study Finds
Newark scored especially well in "trick-or-treater friendliness," a study found.
NEWARK, NJ — Newark is one of the “top cities for Halloween” in the nation, a new study says.
Financial information website WalletHub recently compared the 100 largest U.S. cities across 20 key metrics, which included costume stores per capita, crime rates and the number of potential trick-or-treat stops. See the full list here.
Newark ranked 11th overall on the list. It scored especially well in “trick-or-treater friendliness” – which includes factors like the share of potential trick-or-treaters (and stops), walkability and crime rate.

Newark’s nearby neighbor of Jersey City also scored high on the list, coming in at number two. The top-scoring Halloween haunt in the United States? Another close neighbor: New York City.
