NEWARK, NJ — Worried about being evicted amid the pandemic in Newark? There may be a way to avoid losing your home – and it starts with staying informed, officials say.
Newark city officials will hold a community meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. via Facebook and Zoom.

According to a municipal flyer:
“New Jersey’s eviction protection is not automatic. To be safe, due to changes in the law, every tenant who is behind in paying rent should file a certification to benefit from the protection. Tenants should self-certify, even if a case has not been filed against them.”
