Newark Cops Arrest Man Who Allegedly Robbed 5 Local Businesses
Newark police arrested a man suspected of robbing businesses on Bergen, Clinton, Osborne and Court.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police have arrested a man suspected of robbing five local businesses, including the recent robbery of a Bergen Street beauty supply store last week.
According to the Newark Public Safety Department, Jamal Williams, 19, of Newark, has been charged in connection with recent robberies at the following businesses:
- Bergen Beauty Supply (Bergen Street)
- Ecowas Food Market (Clinton Avenue)
- Crown Supermarket (Clinton Avenue)
- AWS Wholesale Supply (Osborne Terrace)
- Dunkin Donuts (Court Street)
The robbery at Bergen Beauty Supply took place around 11:23 a.m. on June 25, when a male suspect later identified as Williams entered the store with a 16-year-old juvenile and robbed it at gunpoint.

Police canvassing the area found Williams and the juvenile on the 100 block of Wainwright Street and arrested them, recovering the alleged weapon, a replica handgun, authorities said.
Police charged Williams and the juvenile with Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Conspiracy and Resisting Arrest in connection with the June 25 incident.

ALLEGED ROBBERIES
Newark police stated that Williams is also charged with the armed robberies of two businesses on Sunday, June 4: Ecowas Food Market, 660 Clinton Avenue, and Crown Supermarket, 821 Clinton Avenue.
He is also charged with two, armed robberies that occurred on Monday, June 5 at AWS Wholesale Supply, 302 Osborne Terrace, and Dunkin Donuts, 13 Court Street, police stated.
On Thursday, Newark police arrested Williams’ suspected accomplice in the Ecowas Food Market and Crown Supermarket incidents, Larry Williams, 30, of Newark.
Authorities charged Larry Williams – who is not related to Jamal Williams – with two counts each of Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Conspiracy.
