Newark Cops Arrest One Of City’s ‘Most Wanted’ Fugitives
The Newark man was wanted in connection with a shooting that took place near South 7th Street near 11th Avenue, police say.

NEWARK, NJ — FBI agents and Newark Police Department officers apprehended one of the city’s “Most Wanted” fugitives on Tuesday. Authorities said that Timothy Lester, 25, of Newark, was listed as one of the city’s “Top Most Wanted” for an aggravated assault shooting that took place on April 12.
According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, a police officer working an outside employment assignment on April 12 heard a gunshot fired in the area of South 7th Street near 11th Avenue around 10:25 a.m.
The officer found that a male suspect shot at a 31-year-old man, then fled the scene, authorities said. No one was reported injured as a result of the alleged shooting.

Detectives with the Newark Police Department later identified Lester as a suspect in the shooting and issued a warrant for his arrest, authorities said.
Officers with the NPD’s Fugitive Apprehension Team apprehended Lester on Tuesday without incident, authorities stated.

Police charged Lester with Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Possession of CDS (Cocaine).
