Newark Cops Seek Man Accused Of Sex Assaults On Minors (PHOTOS)

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police are searching for a 35-year-old man wanted for allegedly sexually assaulted “multiple minors” in the city. He is believed to frequent the Branch Brook Park area, as well as “shelters in Newark and New York City,” authorities said.

On Wednesday, the Newark Department of Public Safety (NDPS) released a request for the public’s help locating Fredrick Ferguson, 35, of Newark.

“While police are actively searching for Ferguson, we seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating him and removing him from our streets,” the NDPS stated Wednesday.

According to the NDPS, on Aug. 28, 2017, police responded to a South Ward residence in Newark after receiving a report about a sexual assault against children. Detectives later identified Ferguson as a suspect in the alleged sex assault and secured a warrant for his arrest.

“Ferguson is 5 feet 10 inches tall, approximately 170 pounds, with a thin build, and has a burn scar on one of his forearms. He has been known to speak with a Jamaican accent at times and frequents the Branch Brook Park area and shelters in Newark and in New York City.”
