Newark Drug Arrest: Cops Apprehend 2 Reputed Bloods Gang Members

Bloomfield and Irvington police officers assisted Essex County detectives with the investigation.

Essex County and local police arrested two alleged Bloods gang members and a female suspect on Monday for multiple weapons and drug charges, authorities stated.

According to the Essex County Sheriff’s Office, Bloomfield and Irvington police detectives assisted with the investigation, which was spurred by multiple complaints of narcotics trafficking in the area.

Authorities said that officers observed Angel “Jimmy” Kearney, 26, of East Orange, a reputed member of the 793 Bloods gang, allegedly conduct a drug transaction with two men from the porch of 19 Grace Street in Newark on Friday.

Police detained and searched the two men – a 58-year-old from Newark and a 57-year-old from Irvington – finding small amounts of heroin-filled glassine envelopes stamped “REDBULL” in red ink.

Essex County Sherriff’s officers, accompanied by Irvington and Bloomfield police officers – returned to 19 Grace Street on Monday with a search warrant for a first floor apartment.

Prior to executing a search of the premises, police detained Kearney, along with Dequan “Nutty” Wiggins, a 28-year-old alleged Bloods gang member from Newark, and apartment’s 51-year-old resident, Martha Inman.

During a search, officers found a loaded, 9 mm Glock handgun with an allegedly illegal expanded capacity magazine, 63 heroin-filled glassine envelopes, 46 vials of crack-cocaine and a "variety of drug processing materials," authorities stated.

Kearney and Wiggins were charged with two counts each of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of CDS with intent to distribute. Kearney and Wiggins were also charged with the possession of a weapon while committing a CDS crime, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of a large capacity magazine, possession of narcotics paraphernalia and conspiracy to violate New Jersey’s narcotics laws.

The same charges were filed against Inman with the exception of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, authorities stated.
