Newark Family Events: Daddy-Daughter Dance, Mother-Son Masquerade

NEWARK, NJ — Newark’s fathers, mothers, daughters and sons will get a safe, special place to celebrate their family bonds at a pair of upcoming masquerade-style dances organized by She Wins Inc.
She Wins Inc., a local group that seeks to “empower the next generation of young women leaders from the city of Newark,” will host the following two events from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, and Sunday, Feb. 26, at Bold/Thrive Academy (formerly 18th Avenue School), 229 18th Avenue in Newark.
According to a news release, free on-site parking will be available. Tickets are $30 per couple, and can be purchased online here.

“Daughter’s First Date” Princess Ball

The evening will celebrate “fathers, grandfathers, uncles, big brothers, and other significant male-figures and the princesses in their lives,” organizers said.
“There are few things more special to a girl than her father’s love, and we want to give all Newark girls an evening with their fathers and father-figures to celebrate this special bond,” SHE Wins founder and CEO A’Dorian Murray-Thomas said.
“Date Knight” Mother and Son Masquerade Ball
SHE Wins will present its second annual “Date Knight” Dance on Saturday, Feb. 25.
This will be a special evening of elegance for mothers and other significant female-figures to celebrate the princes in their lives.
“Date Knight is an opportunity for our women to celebrate, affirm, and validate the princes in their lives,” organizers said.
The Brothers of the ETA Pi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated and Newark’s Chapter of My Brother’s Keeper will partner with SHE Wins for this event.
