In Newark: ‘Hip Hop Against Hunger’ Will Fight Food Insecurity

An annual effort to harness the power of music to fight food insecurity is returning to Newark for 2024.

NEWARK, NJ — An annual effort to harness the power of music to fight food insecurity is returning to Newark for 2024.

The 10th annual Hip Hop Against Hunger Benefit Show will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Express Newark, 54 Halsey Street (2nd floor). Donations will be used to support families struggling with food insecurity and poverty in Newark/Essex County, organizers said.

“With over 994,800 people struggling with food insecurity in New Jersey (99,210 in Essex County alone), the time for action is now! La Casa de Don Pedro has partnered with Hip Hop Against Hunger to raise $15,000 to support our community fridge and the various other programs and services we provide to over 75,000 people annually. All proceeds will support families and individuals facing hunger and financial crisis throughout Newark and Essex County. Donate today to be part of the solution.
