Newark Hospital Renovates Maternity Unit With Private Rooms

The 34-bed Women's Health Unit at Newark Beth Israel has private rooms with wi-fi access, lounge chairs and a private bathroom.

NEWARK, NJ — Families will have a newly renovated space at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center to welcome their new child to the world, hospital administrators announced this week.

The hospital has completely renovated its former maternity unit into a 34-bed, “private room” Women’s Health Unit. The new arrangement will provide every family with a room equipped with wi-fi access, lounge chairs and a private bathroom. The renovation also includes the addition of 13 new “spacious suites,” hospital administrators said.

New mothers will be offered one-on-one lactation consultations in the new private rooms, as well as education on how to care for their babies after discharge. The Women’s Health Unit will also offer families a special congratulatory dinner the night before discharge and a congratulatory cake to help them continue the celebration at home with family and friends, administrators said.
