Newark Man Nicknamed 'Rage' Gets 18 Years In Jail: Near Fatal Shooting

His victim was shot three times but survived his injuries, prosecutors say.

Newark, NJ – A New Jersey Superior Court judge sentenced a Newark man to 18 years in state prison on Monday for his role in a near-fatal shooting in 2014.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, Angelo Carlo, 30, of Newark - who reportedly goes by the nickname “Rage” - was convicted on March 16 for attempted murder, aggravated assault and weapons offenses after he shot at a 22-year-old Newark man seven times.

The victim was hit three times but survived his injuries, prosecutors stated.

Prosecutors stated that Carlo and the victim got into an argument that resulted in a fistfight earlier on Oct. 29, 2014. Later that day, the two reportedly ran into one each other in the 600 block of Broadway in Newark and Carlo shot the victim.

Carlo has two prior felony convictions, including one for robbery and another for possession of drugs in a school zone, prosecutors stated.
