Newark Police Search For Suspects In 2 Shootings
Neither shooting resulted in injuries, Newark authorities said.
NEWARK, NJ — Newark police are searching for suspects in two separate shootings that recently took place in the city. Neither shooting resulted in injuries, authorities said.
Anyone with information about shootings in Newark can contact the Police Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Anonymous tips can also be made using the Police Division’s website.
According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, officers responded to Mapes Avenue near Hunterdon Street at 10:40 p.m. on Feb. 8 after getting a call about gunshots in the area. Police found several shell casings at the scene, along with property damage caused by gunfire.

Detectives later identified the suspected shooter as Larry Pressley, 33, of Newark. A warrant has been obtained for his arrest on charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, conspiracy, and certain persons prohibited from weapon possession, authorities said.
Pressley is also wanted for unlawful possession of a weapon following the execution of a search warrant that was conducted on Feb. 25, police said.

MARCH 20 SHOOTING
Another shooting took place in Newark on March 20, police said.
Officers responded to the 100-block of West Runyon Street around 7 a.m. on March 20 after getting a report about gunfire in the area. A male suspect fired a handgun toward Hawthorne Avenue from West Runyon Street, leaving a 9 mm shell casing behind at the scene, police said.
Detectives investigating this incident obtained surveillance footage of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help identifying him, police announced this week (see photo below).
