Newark School Board Picks New Member To Replace Asia Norton
Thomas Luna, a former candidate for the board, will take over Norton's unexpired term.

NEWARK, NJ — The Newark Board of Education unanimously voted to select Thomas Luna as its replacement for former board member Asia Norton this week.
The school board voted to approve Luna’s appointment at their Oct. 30 meeting. Luna will fill the vacancy left by Norton, the former board president, who resigned in September to take a job as a law clerk for the State Superior Court of Essex County. Hasani Council was eventually elected to take over Norton’s position as board president.

On Monday, the Newark Board of Education voted for Luna to take over Norton’s unexpired term. He will serve until April.
