Newark School Employee Dies After Possible Medical Complication, Car Crash: Report

Newark, NJ – A longtime employee with the Newark Public School District has died after passing out in a vehicle and crashing on Saturday, a report says.

Valentina Butts, 48, of Newark, who also served as a crossing guard at the Cleveland Avenue School, was found unconscious with her grandchild in her car on Elizabeth Avenue around 2 p.m., RLS Media reported.

Family members told RLS Media that Butts was driving when a medical condition rendered her unconscious and caused her to crash.

Emergency responders transported Butts to University Hospital where she passed away, family members told RLS Media.
