Newark Sets Local Record For Highest Average Temperature In 2021
Think 2021 was an unusually hot year in Newark? It isn't your imagination, according to the National Weather Service.
NEWARK, NJ — Think 2021 was an unusually hot year in Newark? It isn’t your imagination, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Last year was warmer than normal in many U.S. cities across the East Coast, including New Jersey’s largest municipality, Newark. In fact, the average annual temperature in the Brick City set a new local record, the NWS reported.
During 2021, the average temperature was 58 degrees in Newark. That broke the previous record of 57.8, which was set in 2012.

The “normal” average annual temperature in Newark is 55.8 degrees, the NWS stated.
