NEWARK, NJ — Students at KIPP BOLD Academy in Newark celebrated Black History Month earlier this week at an annual event for 2024.

According to a news release, students engaged the audience with a variety of performances during KIPP BOLD Academy’s “We Are One” performance, including a theater piece that educated the audience about the Tulsa massacre and Black Wall Street.

Other performances included a Divine 9 dance routine that celebrated historically Black colleges and universities and an African dance, a rendition of the Black National Anthem (“Lift Every Voice and Sing”), and the KIPP NJ Dynamic Marching Band, who performed on stage and then lined the school’s hallway and performed as families departed for the evening.
