Newark Woman Pulled From House Fire, Dies In Hospital
Despite the efforts of Newark firefighters, a local woman passed away after being pulled from a burning home on Oraton Avenue.
Newark, NJ – Despite the efforts of Newark firefighters, a local woman passed away after being pulled from a burning home on Monday.
According to Newark police, the fire took place around 5:20 p.m. on the third floor of an Oraton Avenue home.
After entering the home, firefighters found a 61-year-old woman suffering from cardiac arrest, authorities stated.

Emergency responders administered CPR and transported her to University Hospital, where she died around 6:04 a.m.
The woman’s identity is being withheld pending the notification of her next-of-kin, police said.

The fire displaced at least nine other people, authorities stated.
Essex County authorities are investigating the cause of the blaze; an autopsy is planned to determine the cause of the woman’s death.
