NJ-Bound Plane Emergency: Reported Bomb Threat Forced Landing
UPDATE: The New Jersey-bound plane was forced to land because of the emergency.
A New Jersey-bound plane was forced to land on Thursday morning because of a reported bomb threat.
Flight 191 made an emergency landing at London Stansted Airport and was forced to park in an isolated location that was away from airport operations, the airport said.
Air India said a bomb threat forced the plane, a Boeing 757 that took off in Mumbai, India, to land. The plane was supposed to land at Newark Liberty International Airport at 7:55 a.m., according to airport officials.

Once it was determined that the plane was safe, the plane took off and headed back to the United States, Air India said. The runway at the London airport was first closed, then reopened.

The Ministry of Defence said RAF Typhoon fighter jets had escorted the aircraft as it made its landing in London, according to the BBC.
