NJ Lottery Machine Malfunctions, 2 Winners Declared (VIDEO)

NEW JERSEY — “Anything can happen in New Jersey,” the state lottery’s motto goes. And at the Pick-4 drawing on Thursday, March 14 – it did.

New Jersey Lottery officials declared an “incomplete draw” after all of the balls failed to release into the chamber before a winning number was selected.

Lottery officials ended up drawing a second set of numbers after the mistake was discovered, replacing the faulty machine with another one, which was tested and reset before the second drawing (watch the video below, or view it online here).

The second set of numbers was 8782. The Fireball number, 2, which was drawn during the first drawing was drawn from a separate machine and remains valid for Pick-3 and both Pick-4 drawings.

Winners from the second draw should mail in a claim form to the New Jersey Lottery with their tickets. Claim forms can be found at any lottery retailer or downloaded from the lottery’s website here.

FRIDAY DRAWING

Lottery officials noted that the Pick-4 drawing on Friday, March 15 will involve a secondary machine while the primary machine continues to be checked out.
