NJ Man Accused Of Fatally Shooting Ex-Girlfriend In Newark Apartment

The alleged shooter fled the scene. He surrendered himself to police later that day, authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — A Newark resident has been accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend in her apartment last weekend, authorities announced Monday.

Kasem McDonald, 42, shot Shaneequah Williams, 45, in her apartment on the 80-block of Astor Street in Newark around 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.

McDonald initially fled the scene. He surrendered at the Essex County Correctional Facility on Saturday evening, authorities said.

McDonald has been charged with first-degree murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He has also been charged with second-degree convicted felon to have possession of a handgun, prosecutors said.
