Recognizing that there are currently 162 individuals in the City of Newark currently waiting for a life-saving organ, and countless others that have received that gift of life in the city, we are pleased to announce the availability of multiple scholarships for the 2020-2021 academic year. Scholarships are offered for Newark students that have been impacted by our mission and are continuing their education.
NJ Sharing Network is the non-profit organization responsible for the recovery and placement of donated organs and tissue for those in need of a life-saving transplant. Nearly 4,000 New Jersey residents are currently awaiting transplantation. We are also part of the national recovery system, which is in place for the 115,000 people on the national waiting list.
