NJ Teen Arrested In Connection With Fatal Newark Shooting: Prosecutor
The shooting claimed the life of an Irvington resident. A 16-year-old suspect has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Police arrested a New Jersey teen in connection with the fatal shooting a 50-year-old Irvington resident in Newark earlier this month, authorities announced Tuesday.
The 16-year-old suspect has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm in connection with the fatal shooting of Kyle Eley, of Irvington, on Sept. 14, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.
Newark police found Eley, 50, on the corner of South Orange Avenue and Munn Avenue in Newark, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to University Hospital and pronounced dead at 7:26 p.m.

The accused teen is being housed in a juvenile detention center, prosecutors said.
