NJ Teen Fatally Shot 17-Year-Old In Irvington: Prosecutors

A 16-year-old has been accused of shooting another teen to death in Irvington, authorities said.

IRVINGTON, NJ — A 16-year-old has been accused of shooting another teen to death in Irvington earlier this month, authorities said.

The teen – whose identity is not being released – has been charged with murder in connection with the death of the 17-year-old victim, whose name is also not being released, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Irvington Police Department.

The 16-year-old suspect is also being charged with two weapon offenses, tampering with evidence and receiving stolen property, authorities said.

Prosecutors released the following statement about the fatal shooting:

“On August 19 at 10:10 p.m., police discovered the 17-year-old victim, whose name is not being released, on the100-block of Maple Avenue in Irvington. He was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:40 p.m.”
