NJ Transit Train Strikes 'Trespasser' Near Newark Broad Street Station
The "trespasser strike" caused delays on the Morris/Essex line, NJ Transit officials stated.
Newark, NJ – A NJ Transit train on the Morris/Essex line struck a person near the Newark Broad Street Station on Thursday evening, authorities stated.
NJ Transit issued an alert about the incident around 7 p.m.:
“M&E train #6355, the 6:40 p.m. from Brick Church is currently delayed at Newark Broad St., due to police activity.”

NJ Transit officials issued an update shortly afterwards, stating that “Morris and Essex Line trains were subject to 15 to 30 minute delays due to a “trespasser strike near Newark Broad Street.”
Trains were operating on or close to schedule about two hours later, NJ Transit stated.
