NJ Turnpike Tollbooth Attendant Robbed At Knifepoint: Police

Police said a 200-pound man was wearing "military-style" face paint when he allegedly robbed a tollbooth on the New Jersey Turnpike.

NEWARK, NJ — Troopers from the New Jersey State Police Newark Station are seeking the public’s assistance identifying a couple wanted for allegedly committing an armed robbery at a New Jersey Turnpike toll booth.

According to the state police, around 7:45 p.m. on Monday, troopers responded to exit 15W on the New Jersey Turnpike after receiving a report of the armed robbery of a toll booth attendant.

Police said that after arriving at the toll plaza, a male suspect allegedly got out of a car that also carried a female passenger. The male suspect allegedly held a knife against the attendant and demanded he hand over the cash drawer. The suspect then got back into the car, which sped off towards I-280 west.

Police described the suspected robber as a Hispanic male about 5 feet 9 inches and 200 pounds, wearing “military-style” face paint and a zip-up, camouflage sweatshirt with maroon-colored accents.

Police described the female passenger is described as a Hispanic female in her 20's, wearing a yellow shirt or dress with a multi-colored tassel.

Police described the car as a black, “newer-model” Toyota Camry with no license plate.
