Overturned Truck In Newark, Traffic Delays On Rt. 1 & 9: Police

Police warned drivers headed into the Tuesday evening rush hour that they may see delays at Routes 1 & 9 North at the Route 78 access ramp.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark authorities warned drivers headed into the Tuesday evening rush hour that they may experience delays at Routes 1 & 9 North at the Route 78 access ramp due to an overturned truck.

The truck overturned around 2:50 p.m. on March 19 in the northbound lanes of Routes 1&9, the Newark Department of Public Safety stated.

The truck driver sustained minor injuries, police said.

“Drivers are advised to plan alternate routes as traffic to and from Routes 78 and the New Jersey Turnpike will be affected,” police stated at 4 p.m.

“As of 3:27 p.m., there's a fuel spill and an overturned truck on US 1&9 northbound ramp to westbound I-78 in Newark. Ramp closed and detoured 10 to 15-minute delay.”
