Port Authority Awards Fraport Big Contract At Newark Airport

NEWARK, NJ — Another big contract has been awarded as part of a massive, ongoing renovation at Newark Liberty International Airport.

On Thursday, the Port Authority signed a five-year deal to manage concessions operations at Newark Airport’s Terminal B with Fraport USA Inc., the international corporation that operates Frankfurt Airport in Germany.

Under a five-year agreement set to go into effect Feb. 1, 2020, Fraport will be responsible for managing about 47,000 square feet of Terminal B concessions space, as well as the loading dock and storage facilities that support these operations, officials said.

Fraport will replace Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) Airports as Terminal B concessions manager.

As part of its growing commitment to new world-class concessions at all of its facilities, the Port Authority introduced 22 “Jersey-centric” shopping and dining destinations to Terminal B customers in 2019, totaling more than 25,000 square feet.

The concessions program is a key component of the major redevelopment of Newark Liberty currently underway, including the largest design-build project in New Jersey history, the $2.7 billion Terminal One redevelopment program.

In December 2018, the Port Authority awarded Munich Airport International GmbH (MAI) a 15-year contract to operate and maintain the new, multi-billion dollar terminal.
