Ridgewood Moving Services Continues to be Proud Sponsor of Paterson Toy Sale

This year, volunteers collected almost 10,000 toys for sale at a nominal price to community residents.

MAHWAH, NJ, JANUARY 8, 2016 – As a new year begins, Ridgewood Moving Services looks back with pride on its role of serving as a sponsor of the 2015 Paterson Toy Sale. The Mahwah, NJ-based moving and storage services company has participated in this community event for several years, serving as a drop-off center for gently used toys and donating the services of its vans to bring the thousands of toys to the sale site. This year, volunteers collected almost 10,000 toys for sale at a nominal price to community residents. The all-volunteer event raised about $3,000 in proceeds, all of which are donated equally to the Paterson Boys and Girls Club and the Center of United Methodist Aid to the Community (CUMAC), a Paterson-based food and clothing pantry.

“Community service is part of our company culture,” noted Cynthia Myer, President of Ridgewood Moving Services. “The Paterson Toy Sale is one of the initiatives we participate in regularly, and we’re honored to be part of this very special event that helps make the holiday season brighter for Paterson-area families and their children.”

Since its inception by the Bergen Highlands United Methodist Church in Upper Saddle River in 1984, the Paterson Toy Sale has grown from a three-table, two-hour event for children to a two-day, family event requiring two moving vans to deliver the thousands of donated toys. At the sale, children may purchase gifts for their entire family from $2.00 to $10.00. “Not only does the sale help families have wonderful gifts for their children that they might otherwise not be able to afford, but they know that the money raised goes right back into their community,” notes Betsy Haley, Coordinator of the Paterson Toy Sale. “We thank Ridgewood Moving Services and all the sponsors, donors, and volunteers that help make this a very special event year after year.”
