Sheriff Armando Fontoura and Essex County Executive

Joseph DiVincenzo will speak at the Newark Public Library on February 18.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura and Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo will join local author and historian Guy Sterling in conversation as part of the yearlong series Newark Lifetimes: Recollections and Reflections.

Joseph DiVincenzo has been Essex County Executive since 2002. He previously served as an Essex County Freeholder for thirteen years. Born in Portugal, Armando Fontoura attended Newark schools and graduated from Newark State Teachers College (now Kean University). He served on the Newark police force and later the Essex County Sheriff’s department. Elected in 1990, Fontoura is Essex County’s longest serving sheriff.

Guy Sterling is the author of The Famous, the Familiar, and the Forgotten: 350 Notable Newarkers.
