NEWARK, NJ — A speeding car plowed into a crash site in Newark on Thanksgiving evening, injuring seven people, including an off-duty police officer, authorities said.

The crash took place around 10:10 p.m. near Route 21 and Riverside Avenue, when a “speeding” Honda collided with two other vehicles at the site of a previous accident, causing one of them to smash into a Newark police car, authorities said.

None of the injuries were life-threatening, police stated.

None of the officers on duty at the scene were hurt, as they were outside their vehicle at the time of the crash, authorities said.

The incident is under investigation, police said Friday.
