Tires Blow Out On 2 Planes At Newark Airport During Holidays
For the second time in a week, a blown aircraft tire scrambled emergency responders at Newark Liberty International Airport.

NEWARK, NJ — For the second time in a week, a blown aircraft tire scrambled first responders at Newark Liberty International Airport.
Around 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve, a United Embraer 145 aborted its take off from runway 4L when tires on its left landing gear blew out, damaging the plane’s left engine, according to the Port Authority PBA.
The Port Authority Police Department’s Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF) unit evacuated 44 passengers and three crew members from the plane. No injuries were reported, the PBA stated.

Four days later, emergency responders at the busy airport found themselves dealing with another blown tire when a Porter Airlines aircraft landed on runway 4R. During that incident, the ARFF unit bused 48 passengers and the crew members to Terminal B.
Nobody was injured, authorities said.
