Triple Shooting In Newark; Victims Also From Irvington, East Orange

Three Essex County residents were shot in Newark. A woman is dead, and two other victims were wounded.

NEWARK, NJ — An Essex County resident is dead and two other victims were wounded in a shooting that took place in Newark on Monday night, authorities said.

Newark police got a report about a shooting on the 900-block of 18th Avenue at 8:08 p.m. Officers arrived at the scene to find Latoya Miller-Kone, 41, of Irvington, suffering from gunshot wounds. She was transported to University Hospital and pronounced dead at 8:30 p.m., according to a statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.

Two other shooting victims, a man from East Orange and a woman from Newark, were treated at the hospital for non-fatal injuries.

No arrests have been made as of Tuesday. A police investigation continues.
