Truck Fire Slows Traffic On NJ Turnpike Near Newark Airport

NEWARK, NJ — A tractor trailer fire slowed traffic and blocked a lane on the New Jersey Turnpike in Elizabeth near Newark Airport on Wednesday morning.

According to 511nj.org:

“As of 9:35 a.m., there's a tractor trailer fire on the New Jersey Turnpike outer roadway southbound north of interchange 13A - Newark Liberty International Airport/US 1&9 in Elizabeth. Right lane blocked.”

"Delays on New Jersey Turnpike inner and outer roadways southbound South of Interchange 15E - US 1&9 (Newark) to North of Interchange 13A - Newark Liberty International Airport/US 1&9 (Elizabeth) 4 mile delay due to a truck fire."

A Twitter user posted a video filmed at the scene, which showed the fiery tractor trailer sending clouds of thick, black smoke across the highway.
