United Way, Black-Owned Store In Newark Give Free Books To Kids
The United Way and Source of Knowledge in Newark gave out 100 free books, each Black-themed or written by a Black author.
NEWARK, NJ — A good book can change a child’s life.
The United Way of Greater Newark recently paid tribute to National Summer Learning Week with an inspiring effort to promote racial equity and childhood literacy, while also celebrating Black authors.
Working in partnership with Source of Knowledge bookstore, a Black-owned bookstore located in Newark, the United Way distributed free 100 books to the local community, including the Ironbound Community Corporation and Leaders for Life. Each book is written by a Black author or is Black-themed.

The initiative is part of the “My Very Own Library” program, which aims to promote childhood literacy and foster a love of reading in young children.
