Weekend Weather Update: High Chance of Rain, Slick Roads Possible

Planning on getting outside this weekend after a long winter indoors? You might want to have a “plan B” ready if the local weather forecast proves correct.

The National Weather Service has issued a ”Hazardous Weather Outlook” for much of New Jersey, saying a “drenching” rain will soak the state and make roads slick all day Saturday. [See related story]

The rain could also result in flooding and icy roadways in some areas, reported the NWS.

Friday Afternoon: Sunny, with a high near 44. Southeast wind around 5 mph.

Friday Night: Rain likely, mainly after 5am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 35. South wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Saturday: Rain. High near 49. Light and variable wind becoming southeast 5 to 7 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Saturday Night: A chance of rain, mainly before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. West wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 49. Northwest wind 9 to 14 mph.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 32.
