Why is it best to take the EPA Refresher Training Course before your certification expires?

This follow-up 4 hour EPA refresher training course is necessary once within each 5 year recertification cycle.

The Lead RRP certification is applicable to those firms or organizations carrying out renovation and/or maintenance activities in pre-1978 houses, child care facilities, primary schools, as well as some common areas of public and commercial buildings, like restrooms and cafeterias. In order to certify your firm, as a renovator you should complete the EPA-approved training course, and apply your firm for the certification on www.epa.gov/lead. Initial training is 8 hrs in duration and involves hands-on exercises. This follow-up 4 hour EPA refresher training course is necessary once within each 5 year recertification cycle.

Certified Renovators who completed the initial training on or before March 31, 2010, should renew their lead paint training certifications before the due date of March 31, 2016. To be able to renew the certification, they are to take a 4 hour refresher class. ABLE Safety Consulting, an EPA accredited training provider, provides these classes on a weekly basis also offer a 100% online EPA Refresher course. In the event that the class is not completed before the initial certification ends, the renovator will be mandated to retake the 8 hr initial EPA Lead certification class.
