Newark officials are asking residents to watch where they park their cars if snow starts coming down.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark officials are asking residents to watch where they park their cars and beware of flooding if the snow and rain starts coming down this weekend.

According to a municipal alert in Newark, residents should observe the city’s “No Parking on Snow Covered Roads” regulations if the snow starts sticking.

Signs have been posted on streets throughout Newark to notify motorists of streets designated for no parking during snowstorms. Motorists and residents are urged to look for signs which identify the streets where the parking ban will be enforced.

"These regulations are essential to the removal/plowing of snow and salting operations and to allow emergency vehicles to pass," Newark officials said. "Whenever possible, off-street parking is recommended during snowstorms. That may mean partnering with a neighbor to use their driveway."

"All residents are reminded that tossing snow into the street is against the law," Newark officials added.

Motorists are also advised to avoid driving on streets that may become flooded due to heavy rain, and should use alternate routes, Newark officials said.
