The network’s inaugural event is thanks in large part to sponsorships from All Points West Distillery, Greater Newark Enterprises Corporation, New Jersey Children’s Foundation, Newark Rotary Club, Peapack-Gladstone Bank, William J. Dowdy Foundation, and United Community Corporation.
“United Community Corporation is passionate about developing young professionals and supporting organizations focused on bettering the Greater Essex County community,” UCC Director of Community Engagement Alena Minatee said. “UCC is honored to support the United Way of Greater Newark’s Young Professionals Network in creating a space to build strong, strategic relationships that many individuals struggle to find in their careers.”
Relationships will not just be built at Wednesday’s mixer, the Young Professionals Network plans to meet quarterly with gatherings at unique and fun locations, host community service events to give back to those in need, and create a group database to make connecting as easy as possible.
“I started my career during the COVID-19 pandemic and never really had a chance to meet other young professionals in person,” United Way Development Manager Marselis Middleton said. “It was great connecting with people through zoom but the YPN provides an in-person element that hasn’t been present in recent years. I look forward to this network expanding and providing a variety of opportunities for young professionals to connect.”
