Appoints New Members of the Board of Trustees
Pamela Gallagher Mingle, Lawrenceville
Nidia Stone, New Brunswick
Highland Park, New Jersey --- Pamela Gallagher Mingle and Nidia Stone have been elected to the Board of Trustees, effective immediately. Philip Levy, President, noted, “Pam and Nidia bring exceptional expertise to our leadership and will make a meaningful impact on our growth and stability, furthering our mission to advance the artistry of the male role in dance through the creation and performance of exceptional dance .”
With more than 15 years in non-profit management and philanthropy, Pamela Gallagher Mingle has held positions in development and management with performing arts and higher education institutions in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey, raising funds and developing programs.
Currently, Pamela Gallagher Mingle is the founder and director of the Women’s Leadership Council and Associate Director of Major Gifts for Rider University. The Rider Women’s Leadership Council is a community of alumnae and friends committed to advancing and fostering leadership for women and students in order to have a positive impact on Rider University. In this role, Pamela is responsible for leading and executing the programs and partnerships which engage students and alumnae, increase philanthropy, foster women’s leadership and encourage conversations about the importance of advancing women. In her role as Associate Director, Major Gifts, Pamela has managed a portfolio of over 200 prospects and executes strategic planning initiatives for the University.
Previously, Pamela was a professional ballet dancer and teacher for over 20 years. Pamela trained at the School of American Ballet in NYC and worked professionally with New York City Ballet, American Repertory Ballet, and New Jersey Ballet, among others. She has taught classical ballet at Rider University, Princeton Ballet School and Princeton Dance and Theater Studio. Pamela holds a BA in English Literature from Colgate University, an MFA in Dance from New York University and a certificate in Women’s Leadership from Darden School of Business at University of Virginia. Pam resides in Lawrenceville with her husband Ronald Forrester.
Pam stated, “I am delighted and honored to serve on the board of 10HL. The leadership of the company is of the highest integrity and the mission of the company celebrates the great diversity of the male dancer. I look forward to being part of the company as it moves it’s mission for dance and dance education to the highest level.”
Nidia Stone has held various leadership positions in the New Jersey state government, including at the Department of Higher Education, the Office of Telecommunications and Information Systems, and the Office of the State Treasurer, where she served as an Assistant State Treasurer. She complements this experience with backgrounds in education and the private sector, having held increasingly responsible positions at CCNY, and at Deloitte US. Her areas of expertise include project planning and execution, the management of teams to effect desired objectives, and clear and effective communications to foster the goals of organizations. Nidia resides in New Brunswick with her husband David.
Nidia stated, “I am honored to serve on the Board of 10 HL. I have been long-time admirer of the troupe’s artistic abilities. More recently, I learned about 10 HL’s other major objective, to establish itself as a significant factor in dance education. As a past educator, I appreciate the importance of training the next generation of dancers and, as importantly, to expose the lay audience to dance. I look forward to supporting 10 HL in the pursuit of its objectives and having a more enriched personal life through the experience.”
About 10 Hairy Legs
10 Hairy Legs, founded by Randy James in 2012, is a dance company – comprised entirely of men – performing James’ work as well as existing and newly commissioned works. 10 HL does not reflect a specific point of view about the male experience, but rather celebrates and explores the tremendous technical and emotional range of the male dancer. Randy James, at the forefront of this generation’s choreographers, educators and arts advocates, is the driving force of 10 Hairy Legs, serving as its Artistic Director. In 2015 10 Hairy Legs launched 10 HL Projects, which includes women for specific productions outside of the all male company. The first of these is a new full-length work based upon C. S. Lewis’ The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, choreographed by James that will have its World Premiere at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in January 2016.
Our Artistic Collaborators are choreographers Julie Bour, Seàn Curran, David Dorfman, Dan Froot, Doug Elkins, Heidi Latsky, Cleo Mack, Tiffany Mills, Luke Murphy, David Parker, Stephen Petronio, Claire Porter, Niv Sheinfeld and Oren Laor, Doug Varone, Manuel Vignoulle, Christopher Williams and Megan Williams; musicians Tigger Benford, Sarah Biber, Jane Chung, Lachlan Glen, Kyle Olson, Robert Maggio, Michael Wall, Dorian Wallace and Peter Whitehead; and designers Abraham Cruz, Oana Botez, Cindy Capraro, Benjamin Heller, John Lasiter, Mary Kokie McNaugher, Dennis O’Leary-Gullo, Lauren Parrish, Amanda Ringger, Amanda Shafran, Ken Tabatchnik and Olivier Theyskens. In addition to their work with 10 Hairy Legs, our company members are currently featured artists with The Bang Group, Stephen Petronio Company, Doug Elkins Choreography, Etc., Tiffany Mills Company and Zvi Dance, among others.
Education is an important component of our work. We provide a wide range of programs suitable for all ages, whether for the aspiring professional, novice beginner or artist citizen, focusing on the many facets of maleness as expressed through dance.
Since our founding, we have served more than 30,000 patrons, students, artists and educators with our programs of performance and education throughout the NY/NJ region, in New York City at New York Live Arts, The 92nd Street Y, The Brooklyn Dance Festival, Modern Dance at Bryant Park, Dixon Place, Joe’s Pub, The West End Theatre as part of the Soaking Wet Festival, on Fire Island for the Dancers Responding to Aids Benefit Week End, Dance at Socrates, in Philadelphia as part of the Koresh Come Together Festival, on tour in The Cayman Islands and New England and broadcast nationally and internationally on The Meredith Vieira Show and Nick Cannon’s Red Nose Dancathon.
Leadership funding for the company has been provided by The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, New Music USA’s Live Music for Dance Program, The Frank & Lydia Bergen Foundation, The Blanche and Irving Laurie Foundation, The O’Donnell Green Music & Dance Foundation, Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission, with assistance provided by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Dept. of State, and The Hyde & Watson Foundation.
