Aspiring Opera Singer Finds Inspiration at Premiere Residences

New luxury residential community at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center

When Amani Cole-Felder graduated from her master’s program at the New England Conservatory of Music, she knew she wanted a home to call her own. As a rising opera singer looking to kickstart her career, it was important for Amani to find an apartment that was high-quality, had top-notch amenities and was conveniently located near transportation to get her to and from auditions – without breaking her budget. Premiere Residences, a new luxury rental building in the heart of New Brunswick’s burgeoning arts and culture scene, checked all the boxes on Amani’s list, and then some.

“Premiere is so different than other apartments I viewed because it’s very luxurious, but it also has a really fresh take on living spaces,” said Amani, who moved into her apartment in October 2019. “Not only are the apartments beautiful, but living in a community with other artists in a culturally rich area is really encouraging professionally.”

Premiere Residences offers open-concept floorplans with modern features and plenty of natural light.

Located at 7 Livingston Avenue, Premiere features a stylish collection of studio, one and two-bedroom homes in the tower above the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC). Monthly rents start from $1,950, with a limited-time offer of one month free on a 13-month lease. Twenty percent of the residences are specifically marketed to actors, musicians, dancers and other members of the local artistic community.

“I’ve been professionally singing opera for the past four years and constantly auditioning for local opera companies and programs,” added Amani. “The location in New Brunswick is perfect because it’s close to other major cities, like Philadelphia and New York, but it also has great restaurants, shopping and cultural activities right outside its doors.”

Premiere offers a variety of modern features that were an immediate draw to Amani during her apartment search, including stainless steel ENERGY STAR® appliances, in-home washer and dryer, spacious closets, movable kitchen islands and phenomenal panoramic views of New Brunswick. Since Amani frequently travels to auditions, the building’s 24-hour concierge service and package lockers were also a huge bonus.

Since moving in, Amani spends a lot of time enjoying the incredible fifth floor with a plethora of amenity spaces and sweeping views.

“There’s a wonderful karaoke room that practically doubles as my practice room,” notes Amani. “There are many more amenities than I ever thought I would be able to afford, including the luxurious rooftop pool and deck. I also enjoy going to the on-site gym with yoga studio, which helps singers like me improve vocal range and breathing capacity.”

The karaoke room includes hundreds of songs that residents and their guests can enjoy.

Additional amenities include a penthouse Sky Lounge, outdoor fire pit, demonstration kitchen, billiard room, residents lounge, and co-working and private meeting spaces. In addition, the building is pet-friendly with bike storage and an on-site garage.

The NBPAC is the region’s premier state-of-the-art venue for musical, dance and theatrical performances. NBPAC includes The Elizabeth Ross Johnson and The Arthur Laurents Theaters and is home to Crossroads Theatre Company, American Repertory Ballet, George Street Playhouse and Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts.
