Community-minded Couple Inspiring Others to Make a Difference

Monmouth Junction residents and business owners, Arthur and Debbie Roedel, wanted to support Women Aware in a way that would have impact beyond their gift. So they have committed to match up to $25,000 in gifts from the community made by December 31, 2015.

“What better way to make a difference than to help vulnerable women and children begin a new life,” says Arthur?

“I’ve known the Roedels for many years and seen their heartfelt generosity to our community,” reflects Diane Palmer, President of the Women Aware’s Board of Directors. “This gift will support our mission of helping victims move beyond abuse.”

Over 6,000 cases of domestic violence are reported to Middlesex County police each year, and many more go unreported. “Given the number of instances, we all have to step up and do something,” stresses Arthur. “Grant funding has diminished significantly in recent years, but the need for domestic violence services is just as great.”

Woman Aware, the state-designated domestic violence service agency for Middlesex County, NJ, provides a hotline, emergency shelter, legal advocacy and counseling services for victims of abuse. As a non-profit organization, Women Aware relies on grants and donations in order to provide these services free of charge. Their long-standing commitment to Women Aware is just one example of the Roedel’s community-mindedness. For over four decades, they have owned and managed Monmouth Mobile Home Park – fondly known to locals as the “communities of nice people” – and been active in local organizations including the South Brunswick Community Unity Day, Lions Club and Public Library.
