Edison Man, Piscataway Woman Charged In 2022 Shooting In Highland Park

Police say the two shot a man at 7:45 p.m. Oct. 28, 2022 in the area of South Eleventh Avenue in Highland Park.

HIGHLAND PARK, NJ — An Edison man and a Piscataway woman have now been charged with shooting a man in Highland Park on a Friday evening this past October, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Highland Park Police Chief Richard Abrams announced Friday, May 26.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor did not release any motive for why the two allegedly shot the man, but it does appear that all three knew each other.

The shooting occurred at approximately 7:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28 in the area of South Eleventh Avenue. Highland Park police officers were called there for a 911 call that people heard gunshots.

Upon arrival, officers located a man who had been shot. The man was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated for his injuries, and he survived being shot.

An investigation led by Detective Sergeant Jason Culver of the Highland Park Police Department and Detective Christopher VanEerde of the Middlesex County Prosecutors Office determined that Gary Manley 26, of Edison, and a woman, Shanta Nolberto, 23 of Piscataway were the alleged shooters.

Nolberto was arrested without incident Dec. 1, 2022 in Highland Park and she was charged with first-degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder.

The second suspect, Manley, was already in prison for another unrelated crime when he was arrested on May 18 and charged with first-degree Attempted Murder, first-degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder, and second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
